“A disgusting and twisted movie, with an almost humorous perverseness!”
So…what would be a suitable punishment for child molesters? How about sewing their mouth to the anus of a fat truck driver! This is the joke that inspired one of the most depraved concepts of a movie in the 2009 shock and disgust film The Human Centipede (First Sequence). From the twisted mind of infamous Dutch filmmaker, writer and director, Tom Six, comes a film that will go down as an instant cult classic. Grossing out movie goers from all over, and causing a few walkouts at select screenings, this film definitely tests your stomach strength.
THE PLOT
Lindsay (Ashley C. Williams) and Jenny (Ashlynn Yennie), two American tourists traveling through Germany, get stranded on a backwoods road when their car breaks down on the way to a local nightclub. Reluctantly, after refusing help from a very strange passing motorist, they wander through the woods looking for some sort of sign of civilization. Just as it starts to rain, they finally stumble upon a remote mansion that seems to be their saving grace. Little do they know, it is owned by the brilliant, but crazy surgeon Dr. Heiter, played brilliantly by actor Dieter Laser. As the girls wait in his living room for him to call a tow service, he offers them some water with a little extra added to it, which in turn causes them to awaken hours later strapped to hospital beds along with another captive individual. Then the show begins as Dr. Heiter gives them a sort of power point presentation of what he plans to do to the three of them. World-renowned for his ability to separate conjoined twins, his new experiment is simple….to successfully combine three people mouth to anus via their digestive track creating the first “Human Centipede”! Being a VERY skilled surgeon, his procedure is a success and the new creation is so remarkable in his eyes, that he feels as though it’s his greatest achievement.
Things begin to get complicated, as the physical condition of his creation becomes a little unstable, and the local authorities come by investigating some missing tourists. With the three individuals helplessly fighting for survival, and the doctor refusing to let his masterpiece become a complete failure, there doesn’t seem to be any hope for a positive outcome for all those involved!
SHOULD YOU SEE IT?
As I watched this film for the first time, I’ll never forget my wife’s reaction when I told her what I was watching. She literally gagged a little, and I found that to be exactly the reaction that Mr. Six was hoping for! “I honestly got sick, and that’s the highest compliment I can give a horror film.” – Eli Roth. I think that quote pretty much sums it up! Great flick!
